Ok
as
time passed by I decided to blog something after 2 long years (o
maybe more… who knows)…
Currently
I’m a happy owner of an old acer C710 chromebook… where I
installed John Lewis special firmware..
Some
years ago, a good friend dared me to try fedora, ubuntu and other
linux ditros knowing the slackware hardcore user I was…
eventually, I ended with KDE-neon version as it was only logical been
the easiest way to get the “up to date” KDE release from the very
kde team.
Anyhow,
I’ve been using this “distro” for about a month, and I have to
say is stable. I had no hick-ups or errors… nothing.
So…
I decided to write this post just to say so.
Meanwhile,
here is my “updated” version of kde settings for lightning fast
performance based on plasma5.
Desktop
Effects:
On
System Settings>Desktop Behavior>Desktop Effects:
1.
disabled Blur
2.
Disabled Translucency (as usual, I don’t feel this translucency
stuff is a mayor player as blur… the idea is to have a lightweight
system, so your mileage may vary)
Breeze
Animations:
on
System Settings > Application Style > Widget Style:
look
for the widget style configure button. On the second pane, disable
animations…
Those
changes made my day… My system is lightning fast… specially
taking into consideration that… this is an intel celeron 847 cpu
with integrated graphics and I used it as my main and only system at
the moment.
KDE-neon
will give you a base, low fat KDE system which you can setup as
needed… and this small changes fee up a good chunk of CPU power
without sacrificing desktop effects and much eye candy.
